Visit the impressive Sacsayhuamán fortress, an enormous Inca structure with massive stone walls that still baffle historians. Wander through the Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun), once the most sacred site in the Inca world, and explore the hidden treasures of Cusco’s surrounding ruins. By the end of the day, you’ll understand why Cusco was the spiritual and political center of the Inca civilization.

The adventure truly begins today! After an early morning bus transfer, you’ll arrive at Kilometre 82, the official start of the Inca Trail. With your expert guide leading the way, you’ll follow the Urubamba River, trekking through breathtaking Andean landscapes. The first day’s hike is a gentle introduction to the trail, giving you time to adjust to the rhythm of trekking. By late afternoon, you’ll reach your first campsite at the base of the mountain pass, where you’ll meet the full trekking team, including the incredible porters who help make this journey possible.

Today is the toughest yet most rewarding day of the trek. After an early breakfast, you’ll begin the steep ascent to Dead Woman’s Pass (4,215m / 13,828ft)—the highest point on the Inca Trail. The trail continues through Inca history, taking you over another mountain pass and into the mystical cloud forest. Today is all about discovery, with your guide stopping at Inca ruins along the way to share stories about the people who once walked these paths. One of the highlights is Runkurakay, a circular stone structure believed to have been a resting point for Inca messengers. As the landscape shifts from high-altitude terrain to dense green forests, you’ll feel the anticipation building—Machu Picchu is getting closer. By evening, you’ll reach your final campsite, incredibly close to the Lost City of the Incas.
-
This is the day you’ve been waiting for! After an early breakfast, you’ll set off before dawn to reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) just in time for sunrise. As the first golden light spills over the mountains, Machu Picchu will appear before you, an unforgettable sight that makes every step of the journey worth it.
After taking in the views and snapping some photos, you’ll descend into the ruins for a guided tour of Machu Picchu, learning about its history, architecture, and the mystery that still surrounds this incredible site. Once your visit is complete, you’ll board the scenic train back to Cusco, reflecting on the epic adventure you’ve just completed.
